Welcome to Monticello School District!
The Monticello School District has a proud history of excellent programming and a constant dedication to meeting the needs of each student that walks through our doors. The district has embraced and rallied around the mantra of “Every Kid, Every Day.” Students in Monticello are given every opportunity to succeed, thanks to talented and committed teachers and staff, top-notch technology, and a supportive, education oriented community.
At Monticello Public Schools, we believe in whole child education and on investing in our youth not just with textbooks but with time, attention, and passion. We invite you to explore Monticello Public Schools, both via our website and/or a scheduled tour, to learn more about how our district can meet the educational needs of your family.
News & Announcements
The Monticello School District proudly announces its partnership with local community members in a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing early literacy development across the community. With a unified goal of fostering motivation, education, and engaging opportunities, the initiative seeks to harness the wealth of child development resources available in the Monticello Community.
Recent data revealing that a staggering 500,000 children in Minnesota, from kindergarten to 12th grade, struggle with proficient reading skills has prompted the district to take action. Leveraging local resources and connections unique to Monticello, the initiative aims to provide families with unparalleled access to services and resources essential for achieving literacy goals.
Our mission is clear: To unite Monticello and build the highest reading proficiency scores with the fewest inequities than any other school district and accomplish it in record breaking time. Outlined benchmarks include ensuring that young brains are primed for literacy development by age three, achieving proficiency in reading at each grade level, and implementing evidence-based literacy instruction across all grades.
The initiative kicked off with a successful inaugural meeting held in February, where participants engaged in brainstorming sessions, forged valuable connections within the community, and set the stage for future endeavors. We will keep you posted on unification of early literacy plans across the community!
Four Minnesota high school students, including Paul Fasen from Monticello High School, have been named as the 2024 Triple 'A' Award state scholarship recipients! The Triple 'A' Award, established in 1988, honors seniors for excellence in academics, arts/activities, and athletics. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and participate in League-sponsored programs. Selected through a rigorous process, this achievement is a testament to Paul’s hard work and dedication.
Paul was also featured on a Fox 9 news story this week- click here to watch! Congratulations, Paul!
