Red Wing Pottery TourThis thrilling trip to beautiful Red Wing will feature a tour of the Pottery Museum that features an interactive experience and the amazing 70-gallon pottery jug. Trip goers will have a casual lunch at Liberty's Restaurant, and a local guide will present the historical facts and interesting sites on a riding tour. This attraction features an interactive experience and the amazing 70-gallon pottery jug. A docent will talk about the project and introduce you to the exhibits on display. The historic pottery industry flourished in Red Wing, Minnesota from 1877 until 1967. The Red Wing Collectors Society Foundation is a national foundation dedicated to gathering historical information and items to preserve Red Wing and other American pottery and stoneware for future generations. Preserving the history of the clay industries in Red Wing, this museum has more than 6,000 historic pieces of stoneware, art pottery, dinnerware, and folk art to view and enjoy. 11:15 a.m. Leave the Pottery Museum. 11:30 a.m. Arrive at Liberty Restaurant located in the historic downtown building at 3rd & Plum owned by the Noreen Family since 1975. Menu: Meat-Loaf Luncheon with Cole Slaw, Mashed Potato & Gravy, Vegetable, Roll and Butter, Beverage, Petite Ice Cream Sundae. 12:45 p.m. Meet a local tour guide for a riding tour of historic Red Wing. Hear about the Pottery business, see impressive commercial and civic buildings, churches as well as a residential neighborhoods Enjoy your journey through Red Wing’s architectural past and along the riverfront area now known as Levee Park. Chateau St. Croix Winery TripThis breathtaking trip will take travelers through the picturesque St. Croix River Valley to explore the old-world charm of a winery created in the image of a European Estate with a carriage house, stables and formal gardens. Purchase award-winning local wines, grown and vinted at the orchard. The store is adjacent to the Aamodts Apple Farm. You can purchase Minnesota apples inside the nostalgic apple barn. The bakery has pies featuring JoAnn Aamodt’s secret recipe, the famous cider donuts, fresh apple cider, locally-produced honey and other tasty products and gifts. 11:00 a.m. Leave the winery orchard. 11:15 a.m. Arrive at the Lowell Inn. The Lowell Inn opened in 1927. Elmer Lowell created a lush and elegant hotel that still stands the test of time. Fine dining rooms were established and have been restored. Have lunch at theLowell Inn, better known as the “Mt. Vernon of the Midwest.” Menu: Chicken ala King - Tender pieces of chicken, mushrooms, red and green peppers in a sherry cream sauce served over a puff pastry shell, mashed potatoes, vegetable of the day, beverage and a small dessert. 12:30 p.m. Leave the Lowell Inn in Stillwater. 1:30 p.m. Arrive at the Chateau St Croix Winery in the picturesque St. Croix River Valley near St. Croix Falls. Tour the winery production area and barrel room. Explore the old-world charm of a winery created in the image of a European Estate with a carriage house, stables and formal gardens. After the tour enjoy the beautiful setting.
