Calling all artists! This is your chance to explore your creative side while trying many different types of art mediums such as: watercolor, acrylic, pencil and clay. You will have many opportunities to learn something new such as: creating bean mosaics, mandalas, paper mobiles, popsicle art and rock painting. We will also have opportunities to build our creativity skills using clay, too! While participating in this class, you will have the chance to make several projects that demonstrate what you've learned and how you've used your imagination. This course will be fully supported as a process based art class where students will be able to watch, explore, learn and grow! Let's dive in and create!
Hello! My name is Marcy Beal and I have taught 1st grade in the Monticello district for 25 years. I received my teaching degree from the University of Minnesota, Mankato back in 1995 and acquired a Masters of Arts in Education from St. Mary's University as well. Upon graduation from college, I was a long-term Art teacher in Monticello where I taught alongside my high school art mentor. I have taken several art courses in college and have always been drawn toward creative arts in my earlier years as well. *Fun fact: I have a cousin who is a well known animator that lives out in California and draws for Sony Pictures Animation. Ever heard of "Miles Morales" in Spiderman? He was the animator who created him! We have the love of music and art in our family and enjoy sharing it with others.
