  • Common App Boot Camp

    Seniors planning to apply to multiple colleges, especially if their list includes private or selective colleges, will likely use a program called Common App. This session will walk students through the program and terminology so they can be confident they are making the correct selections. Students will learn to use Common App tools to research college application options and deadlines and begin building their personal application-planning timeline. During this session, students will create their Common App accounts and should bring a charged laptop (or Chromebook) along with a list of potential colleges. (Note: Students are not expected to have a finalized list of college options, nor will they be submitting any applications during this session). Target Audience: Rising Seniors who intend to apply to multiple colleges. Instructor: Shelly Hughes is a licensed School Counselor in the state of MN, holding a master's degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of MN. In her career spanning over 25 years, Shelly has worked in higher education, private and secondary settings, providing guidance to students with academic, college and career planning. Ms. Hughes has specialized interest and experience in supporting students with mental health concerns, disabilities and executive function challenges and understands how these factors impact post-secondary planning. The mother of three teens/young adults, Ms. Hughes has navigated the high school/college years from the perspective of a parent as well as an educator.

  • Do your own Henna with Evie - Ages 11 and Up

    Have you ever wanted to learn how to do your own henna? This class is for you. Evie will show you how to create some beautiful designs. You will get to do your own henna on your hands, arms or feet. All of the supplies will be provided. Make sure you wear a short sleeve shirt and remember that henna is a dye. The design will last up to 3 weeks on the skin. Dress for a mess! Evie Lamb is a class of 2024 graduate from Monticello. She has always enjoyed art and has had many pieces of her art on display in the school district art shows.

    Drivers Education Classes and Behind the Wheel Training

    This complete Drivers Education program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel training. Behind-the-wheel instruction will be scheduled individually and directly with Wreck-Less Driving Academy. Students must attend all 30 hours. Any missed classes must be made up in future sessions (at any Wreck-Less location). Students will receive a completion certificate once all 30 hours are complete. Eligible Students must be 14 1/2 years old before the first day of class. You will receive a welcome email with additional registration instructions from Wreck-Less 10 days before class begins. Contact wreck-less if you do not get the email. For Online Classes: Students MUST have the ability to print curriculum before class begins and the technology to attend class via Zoom with a camera and microphone. Parents and students will receive a welcome letter, Zoom information, curriculum and additional registration materials via email before class begins. Registration is not considered complete until required forms are received in the Wreck-Less office. Parents will need to provide a current email address and contact phone number upon registration.   • Drone Racing- Grades 3-8

    Students will learn how to fly like the pros in the Drone Racing League by training on a flight simulator. Once they learn the basics of flying, they’ll assemble their very own drone which they’ll get to keep after the camp. After learning drone safety and maintenance, students will take their drone to the skies and compete in numerous races and challenges. Led by experienced instructors, students will leave camp with the skills and knowledge to pilot their drones and keep them running. The drones used in camps have cameras, and are perfect for entry level pilots. Students can choose to bring their drone home for an additional cost (~$100 value)
  • Eureka Engineering- Grades 3-8

    Eureka Engineering introduces students to the core skills of robotics and STEM through engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. Student groups will work with Lego Mindstorm kits, which include both electrical and mechanical components. The small groups will be mentored by experienced and passionate instructors. Parents are welcome to watch their child’s robotic creations come to life in exciting and competitive challenges including drag racing, fighting robots and more!     Evolution Tae Kwon Do aims to strengthen both the physical and the mental well-being. This class helps reduce stress and increases self-confidence, flexibility, balance, weight loss, and overall health. Its balance of hard work and discipline, along with the rewards of personal achievement, it develops confident, well-balanced individuals. Different people join for different reasons, but what they find is all the same. It acts as a good vent for children, a stress-reliever for adults, improves concentration and enhances both physical fitness and self-confidence for all students. Through training on memory, balance, and coordination in Tae Kwon Do students develop focus, self-confidence, and self-defense. Through setting goals and expectations based on each individual, Tae Kwon Do creates an environment where every participant can achieve success.   • F.A.S.T. KIDS – Ages 7-10 Staying Safe While Home Alone

    First Aid and Safety Trained Kids is a 4-hour course for 7 – 10 year olds. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, personal safety and healthy living. This course helps prepare children for staying at home alone. Students will receive a book and construct a home first aid kit as part of the class. Please bring a drink and snack.

  • Firearms Safety Training Program

    Firearms Safety Training Program The Monticello Rod and Gun Club will be offering a Firearms Safety Training Program for students and adults. Students and a parent or guardian should plan on attending registration and a short meeting on Monday, Sept. 9th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Classes will be held on Sept. 11, 12, 16, 17 & 19th from 7-9 p.m. in the Monticello High School Media Center. Students will meet at the Monticello Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:30-noon for range day. Boys, girls and adults are welcome. You must be at least 11 years old. DO NOT bring firearms to class. New DNR Info: You do not have to bring a fee or stamped envelope to class anymore as it is done electronically after you pass the course (you’ll receive the address in class). If you cannot attend ALL the sessions, you should wait until the spring class. You must attend all scheduled dates! No make-up sessions will be available.     Dive into the world of Harry Potter in this fun and creative camp! Draw your favorite characters using a variety of art materials and create your very own wand — all while listening to Harry Potter on audiobook! We will learn the fundamentals of drawing through close observation, discuss basic drawing techniques, learn how to layer with color, practice, and have fun!

    Horseback Riding Day Camp, Ages 6-17

    Boulder Pointe Equestrian Camps are on rain or shine! There is an outdoor and indoor arena. Proper attire includes a sneaker or boot (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers depending on the weather. Bug spray, sunscreen, nut-free snacks and a water bottle are also recommended. Please bring a nut-free bagged lunch and plenty of fluids to drink. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are provided. Signed waivers are required before riding. Riding Day Camp Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas, practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk, trot, and canter (depending on camper's riding experience). They also might make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to feed and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING? ● Long pants, closed toe shoes, appropriate clothes for weather inside and outside of barn. ● No flip flops. ● Sunscreen/hat/bug spray ● Water bottle/drinks/snacks and a lunch ● Treats for the horses if you want ● Helmets are provided.     In this class you’ll learn how to draw cool cars, inspired by Hot Wheels. Together we’ll use watercolors, paints and colored pencils to bring the cars to life! Parents of the artists are welcome to join us for the last 10 minutes of class. As every day in class we’ll host a car show to exhibit their speedy art! Come join in on the fun!
