This class includes an in-house/on-site "field trip" by a resident artist from the Caponi Art Park out of Eagan MN, a walking field trip in Monticello(weather permitting), and your favorite creation being added to a digital art show that you will be able to share with family and friends. In this class we will be using basic carpentry to build a raised garden bed and then diving into the science of how to make our gardens grow! Raised garden beds make growing your own food possible for just about any type of yard or growing conditions. We will explore why raised garden beds can be better for our environment by using less water, less space, and can extend our short Minnesota growing window. We will be playing in the dirt as we mix our own special compost gardening soil ideal for growing your garden. Plan on being outside for part of each day and getting dirty! Each participant will be taking home their own raised garden bed complete with everything needed to get their garden growing including compost and plants! Your raised garden bed will fit in a vehicle for transport home. Please choose garden type at registration: Choice 1) An open bottom raised cedar bed that is placed directly on the ground.
