Proper attire includes a sneaker or boot (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers depending on the weather. Bug spray, sunscreen, nut-free snacks and a water bottle are also recommended. Please bring a nut-free bagged lunch and plenty of fluids to drink. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are provided. Signed waivers are required before riding. 3 Day Horse Day Camp Experience a mini-week long camp! Campers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as; daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, groom and care for the horses (including bathing) and feed them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Firearms Safety Training ProgramRecreationFirearms Safety Training Program The Monticello Rod and Gun Club will be offering a Firearms Safety Training Program for students and adults. Students and a parent or guardian should plan on attending registration and a short meeting on Monday, Sep 12th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Classes will be held on Sep. 13, 15, 19, 20, & 22 from 7-9 p.m. in the Monticello High School East Lecture room. Students will meet at the Monticello Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, Sep. 17th from 8:30-11 a.m. for range day. Boys, girls and adults are welcome. You must be at least 11 years old. DO NOT bring firearms to class. New DNR Info: You do not have to bring a fee or stamped envelope to class anymore as it is done electronically after you pass the course (you’ll receive the address in class). If you cannot attend ALL the sessions, you should wait until the spring class. You must attend all scheduled dates! No make-up sessions will be available. Riding Day Camp Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas, practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk, trot, and canter (depending on camper's riding experience). They also might make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to feed and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! This program will meet 2 days a week for 4 weeks right after school. Girls will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and Boys will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Make sure you are registering for the correct days. Parents need to pick up at the MS Track by 4:30 PM. We need a minimum of 25 students for each session to run that particular session.
