    CLASS DESCRIPTION: Come and learn how Cotton Candy is made WITH and WITHOUT a machine. In this class we will be learning how Cotton Candy is made by heating and spinning flavored sugar and Jolly Ranchers. We will also be playing games for fun prizes like a CARNIVAL and EVERY child will go home with Cotton Candy and Prizes. Come and have some fun with your friends and enjoy the CARNIVAL.

    When your child has a Smartphone there are key things you should know in order to keep them safe and secure. In this class you’ll understand recommended safety settings on popular social media apps, parental apps for your child’s Smartphone, and more! You will leave this class with a confident plan to simplify the technology so that you and your child can use the phone safely without worry. August 13th, 12pm – 1pm CST Online through Zoom, you will get an email with the information and link. You have the option of attending the live class but will also get the recording to watch at another time.
  • Chocolate Lovers Need Only Apply-Gr. 2-8

    Are you ready to be surrounded by chocolate treats, chocolate themed science activities and a literary biography that revolve around chocolate? In this four day course you will participate in a book study about Milton Hershey that will give students the opportunity to take events from the story and explore them in cooking lessons, science experiments and art projects. We will also explore the history of the cacao bean, take a virtual field to Hershey PA, sample chocolate foods and so much more! Week 2- AM Gr. 2-5 PM Gr. 5-8

  • College Essay Essentials

    Seniors who are applying to selective colleges, private colleges or specialized programs or scholarships will need to write an essay (or multiple essays). Seniors who delay this task until closer to application due dates often find this process rushed and stressful, undermining the quality of their essays—and their application. This session will teach the essential elements of the college essay and how to approach a variety of common essay prompts. Through fun brainstorming activities, students will walk out of the session motivated to continue working on their essay drafts before the start of their busy senior year. Target Audience: Rising seniors motivated to get a head start on their college applications and essays. Instructor: Shelly Hughes is a licensed School Counselor in the state of MN, holding a master's degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of MN. In her career spanning over 25 years, Shelly has worked in higher education, private and secondary settings, providing guidance to students with academic, college and career planning. Ms. Hughes has specialized interest and experience in supporting students with mental health concerns, disabilities and executive function challenges and understands how these factors impact post-secondary planning. The mother of three teens/young adults, Ms. Hughes has navigated the high school/college years from the perspective of a parent as well as an educator.
  • Comic Book Camp - Ages 9 and up

    Come join us and learn how to create your own comic strip! We will learn how to design characters, take a closer look at facial expressions, and create your own comics! Inspiration will be taken from famous cartoon comic strips like Peanuts, Mutts, and Calvin & Hobbes.
  • Common App Boot Camp

    Seniors planning to apply to multiple colleges, especially if their list includes private or selective colleges, will likely use a program called Common App. This session will walk students through the program and terminology so they can be confident they are making the correct selections. Students will learn to use Common App tools to research college application options and deadlines and begin building their personal application-planning timeline. During this session, students will create their Common App accounts and should bring a charged laptop (or Chromebook) along with a list of potential colleges. (Note: Students are not expected to have a finalized list of college options, nor will they be submitting any applications during this session). Target Audience: Rising Seniors who intend to apply to multiple colleges.     Current research shows lifestyle and diet have a big effect on HOW the brain ages. Cognitive function, which covers all aspects of perceiving, thinking and reasoning, CAN improve. And the very good news is no matter what your age there are things you can begin to do today to improve how quickly and effectively brain cells communicate with each other. We’ll discuss which ‘superfoods’ reduce the damaging effects of toxins and inflammation on the brain and which nutrients are great for memory, attention, processing information and reducing stress. You will learn simple, easy to implement strategies to help your brain stay healthy and alert. This class is online via zoom. You will get a email a couple days before class with a link and information.

  • Dinosaur Discovery (ages 3-5, drop-off class)

    Teleport back to the Jurassic period and become a paleontologist for the day. How do scientists find fossils? What do they tell us about a brontosaurus, stegosaurus or T-Rex? We will have a playdate with a dinosaur, create a fantastic work of dinosaur art, dig for dinosaur fossils, do some dinosaur puzzles and sing some dinosaur songs. This is a drop-off class for 3-5 years old. Students must be potty-trained to attend. It will be a dino-rific day!
